‘Quality’, ‘Ice cold’ – Some West Brom fans rave about one player at HT v Sheff Weds
West Brom fans have been raving about Charlie Austin after he scored in the first half against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Austin, 30, was drafted into Slaven Bilic’s starting line-up for the first time since February 1 to replace Hal Robson-Kanu.
And Bilic’s decision to swap his strikers was fully justified based on the opening 45 minutes as Austin managed to fire the Baggies into the lead from the penalty spot.
Dara O’Shea was hauled to the ground after an Albion set-piece.
It took a while for the decision to be made but the referee eventually pointed to the spot, handing Austin the chance to score his 10th West Brom goal.
And that is exactly what the 30-year-old did as he put Albion into the lead with their first goal after a four-match goalless run in the Championship.
Understandably, West Brom fans took to Twitter in the first half to heap praise on the ex-Southampton striker and here is a selection of their tweets:
We would not rather have any other player standing over the ball ahead of a penalty.
Robson-Kanu has done well this season but he has not been anywhere near good enough in recent games and Austin needed to start versus the Owls.
Thankfully, that move has worked out so far for Bilic.
In other West Brom news, we’ve found out if Callum Morton can play for Albion now that his loan at Northampton is over.
