West Brom rejected by Brazilian attacker after offer tabled - report
West Brom fans thought that just one Brazilian attacker would be joining the club this year but it seems the club is making an effort to bring in another.
According to ArenaNapoli, West Brom have tabled a club-record bid worth over £22.5million to sign Gremio star Éverton.
It is understood that Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and, funnily enough, Premier League club Everton are also interested in the 24-year-old Brazil international but it is the Baggies who have stumped up an offer for him.
Unfortunately for West Brom, it is understood that Éverton has rejected any potential move to The Hawthorns because he would prefer to play for a bigger club.
We were not expecting to see Albion linked with Éverton any time soon.
The 24-year-old is one of the most talented players who is still in Brazil and even Premier League champions Liverpool were linked with him at one stage.
If West Brom win promotion then fans should not expect them to start splashing the cash by putting in bids of over £20million on players.
Firstly, the coronavirus pandemic is going to have a massive impact on the economy of the game so spending is bound to be more shrewd this year.
And secondly, Mark Jenkins is chief executive and we know how much of a tight-fisted operator he can be.
The Baggies had their biggest ever transfer splurge in the year leading up to their relegation in 2018.
If they go back up then you can expect a more Sheffield United-like approach to their business with Bilic just making the odd addition here and there while also using the loan system to his advantage again.
Do not expect to see Éverton in a West Brom shirt.
In other West Brom news, we’ve found out if Callum Morton can play for Albion now that his loan at Northampton is over.
