West Brom starlet admits he could spend another season out on loan

West Brom youngster Callum Morton has set himself the milestone of playing 40 or more times next season in the football league.

Morton admitted he would like that to be with West Brom at the Hawthorns, but insisted he isn’t afraid to go out on loan again.

The young striker has succeeded at Northampton this season, scoring vital goals to help them earn promotion to League One.

Morton commented on his future on Friday, admitting that he has already set his sights on next season regardless of where the Baggies will be.

“The aim when you are at your parent club is always to play first-team football there but if that’s not possible for whatever reason, or if they don’t think I’m ready yet, then I’ll happily go on another loan to whatever level is deemed necessary for me to play,” he told the official club website.

“The most important thing for me next season is to be playing football and hopefully I will get 40 or more appearances in league football under my belt next season. Playing football is my aim next season.”

So, could Morton even feature for the Baggies between now and the end of the season in the Championship?

Unfortunately, no. The 20-year-old has featured in the play-offs, and a report from the BBC highlighted that will block the forward from featuring for the Baggies this season.

The Albion are keen to keep hold of their striker though, with The Athletic’s Steve Madeley sharing that talks are planned for a new deal.

Madeley also reported that a number of League One and Championship clubs are interested in a loan move next season, so expect the forward to be elsewhere.
