Ahmed Hegazi sends Twitter message to West Brom teammates after red card v Hull City
West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi has taken to Twitter to issue his verdict on Sunday’s win over Hull City.
The Baggies moved back to within one point of league leaders Leeds United with an impressive 4-2 victory over the struggling Tigers.
On a personal level, the Egypt international had a mixed afternoon, initially getting himself on the scoresheet before being dismissed in stoppage time for a second bookable offence following a clumsy collision with Mallik Wilks.
The sending off leaves Hegazi with a one-game ban ahead of Wednesday’s clash with play-off chasing Derby County.
But the 29-year-old has still taken to social media to express his happiness at having picked up all three points yesterday, and to send a message to his teammates.
Writing on his personal account, he said: “Delighted for the win and goal today.
“Unfortunately I will not be involved on Wednesday, but let’s keep the momentum going boys”.
It’s a shame that Hegazi got himself dismissed in the closing stages against Hull because he put in a stellar performance otherwise.
Aside from his goal, the Egyptian also won five aerial duels, made five clearances, and completed five long passes, as per Whoscored.
As a point of reference, Kyle Bartley won two duels, made two clearances, and completed no long passes.
Hegazi has looked consistently solid since the Championship restarted, and not having him available for a tough meeting against a Derby side who have picked up 10 out of 12 points over that spell is an unfortunate blow.
Thankfully, because it wasn’t a straight red, Hegazi’s ban is only for the one match, and the hope will be that we can soldier on without him and get him back into the starting XI as quickly as possible
