Robert Koren predicts Championship winners between Leeds & West Brom
Robert Koren has backed West Brom to beat Leeds United to the Championship title this season in the race for top spot.
The Slovenian midfielder earned promotion to the Premier League twice in his career, finishing first and second in two separate campaigns.
Albion cut the gap to Leeds back to one point on Sunday afternoon after sweeping aside Hull City 4-2 at the Hawthorns.
Koren claimed that the Baggies deserve the title in the second-tier after their success under Slaven Bilic at the Hawthorns.
“West Brom have a really good chance of going back to the Premier League,” he told the Athletic.
“They have had a great season under Slaven Bilic but I hope they can go on and get the title. I have won promotion and won the title and winning the title is really special.”
It has been a vital week for the Baggies in the Championship after a poor restart to the season after the enforced break.
After two games without a win, Albion made it back-to-back victories with convincing performances against both Sheffield Wednesday and Hull.
Prediction expert, Nate Silver has claimed that the Baggies now stand an 83% chance of promotion to the Premier League. Koren wants that to happen as champions – something Bilic’s men have a 27% chance of doing [FiveThirtyEight].
With Brentford on fire at this moment, all that matters are three points every week not whether or not they will finish first or second.
