‘Instrumental’ – Slaven Bilic shares verdict on Chris Brunt after cameo in 4-2 win v Hull
Slaven Bilic has heaped praise on West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt for his role in the 4-2 victory against Hull City on Sunday.
The Croatian gave the Baggies veteran a cameo appearance at the Hawthorns, claiming that his side needed stability in midfield.
West Brom finished the game with 10-men against the Tigers though, with Ahmed Hegazi getting his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards.
Bilic claimed that Brunt was instrumental in making sure that Albion finished the clash on top to pick up all three points.
“We needed somebody to give us the balance that was missing,” he told the official club website.
“His role was instrumental for us. We are in a season where it doesn’t matter what happened in August, or December or even February.
“We have to see what is good for today and plan our game only on that. We really needed Chris Brunt against Hull and he did his job in the best possible way.”
The 35-year-old only made his sixth appearance of the season after coming on against Hull, and it was his first run-out this year for the Baggies.

His experience was vital after Hegazi was sent off, and there will likely be another moment where he will be needed between now and the end of the season – that’s for sure.
