West Brom-linked international could be available for bargain £1.5m – reliable journalist

West Brom target Antonee Robinson could be available for just £1.5million if Wigan are relegated to League One, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon first reported Albion’s interest in the 22-year-old left-back last month when he said that the Baggies have a “big chance” of signing him.

Robinson almost joined AC Milan in a deal worth up to £10million in January before he failed a medical due to a heart issue.

And now it seems that crisis club Wigan could miss out on a huge amount of money on Robinson as he might be sold for just £1.5million if they go down.

If Wigan survive relegation – which seems unlikely based on an incoming 12-point deduction for entering administration – then the former Everton left-back will be valued at £6million.

Either way, USA international Robinson is a good young left-back and even at £6million, he could be a strong addition to the West Brom defence.

Slaven Bilic is likely to need a new left-back ahead of next season if the Baggies win promotion to the Premier League.

Conor Townsend is untested at that level and it could be a risk to go into a top-flight campaign with him as an option at left-back while Kieran Gibbs has had continual issues with his hamstring this season.

Robinson had his heart issue but has undergone surgery and has made four appearances for Wigan since the season restarted.

He is clearly fit again and is clearly a prospect who Albion should be trying their best to secure in the next transfer window.

In other West Brom news, fans have urged the club to sign this former England international who’s now a free agent.
