‘What a shame’ – Don Goodman shares what he noticed about West Brom injury blow v Derby
Don Goodman noticed that Grady Diangana clashed knees with another player before being taken off as West Brom won 2-0 against Derby at The Hawthorns on Wednesday.
Diangana, 22, put Albion ahead in the first half but his match only lasted 51 minutes before he was forced off and replaced by Callum Robinson.
Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi reported that on-loan West Ham star appeared to suffer a hamstring injury against the Rams but Sky Sports pundit and ex-Albion striker Goodman has suggested it was just an impact injury.
“His body language and the reaction of his team-mates tell its own story,” said Goodman on Sky Sports Football [06:09pm].
“What a shame. They missed him when he was out earlier in the season.
“It looks like a clash of knees.”
If Diangana was taken off with an impact injury then that is definitely better than him suffering yet another hamstring injury.
It might mean Diangana misses the trip to Blackburn on Saturday but we would much rather that than him miss the rest of the season and effectively have his Albion loan spell come to an end.
Diangana’s struggled with back and hamstring injuries since December.
He recovered during the enforced break but didn’t look himself in his first few appearances after the season restarted.
The England Under-21 international was back to his best against Derby as he looked sharp and even managed to get his second goal in as many games.
We just hope the injury isn’t bad and he was only taken off to avoid any risks.
