‘West Ham written all over it’, ‘Appalling’ – Many West Brom fans hit out over transfer report

In one of the stranger transfer rumours we’ve seen recently, West Brom have been linked with a move for Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.

The Independent has reported that with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for a clear-out, Lingard could be deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

It is suggested that the Baggies could be rivalled by Premier League duo Everton and West Ham in their pursuit over the summer.

The 27-year-old is in the last year of his current contract with the Red Devils and this is understood to be the final chance to get a decent figure for the playmaker.

Obviously, the move would depend on the Baggies securing promotion to the Premier League this season with Lingard on big money.

The England international is currently earning around £75,000-a-week according to Spotrac, and that is huge money to be throwing at a summer signing.

Matheus Pereira has been phenomenal this season and is likely to be Slaven Bilic’s main man in the Premier League next season.

Has Lingard done much to prove he is better than the Brazilian? Not really. The midfielder hasn’t recorded a single goal or assist this season in the Premier League, not a good omen.

The Baggies have all-but-confirmed the permanent signing of Pereira from Sporting Lisbon this summer, and it definitely proves there are better options out there at a much cheaper price.

Many Albion fans have reacted to the transfer report, with the majority destroying it admitting that they hope their club looks elsewhere this summer.
