‘It will be one of those days’ – Jeff Stelling predicts West Brom clash v Blackburn
Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling has predicted that West Brom will secure a narrow win against Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Albion have won three on the bounce and sit five points clear of third-placed Brentford going into their final four matches of the season.
Slaven Bilic’s side beat Derby with relative ease on Wednesday but Stelling believes it will be a tight encounter this weekend when the Baggies take on Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn.
However, he still predicts that Albion will run out as 2-1 winners.
“West Brom will just about get over the line here,” Stelling said, as quoted on the Super 6 website.
“Brentford are continuing to heap pressure on them, but it is more about the results than the performances for West Brom.
“It will be one of those days, but another three points towards their automatic promotion hopes will be important here.”
West Brom have the best away record in the Championship by quite some distance.
Bilic has seen his side pick up 42 points on the road this term, which is four more than they’ve managed to win at The Hawthorns in the same number of games.
Albion have also conceded just 15 goals in their 21 away fixtures so the stats do suggest that Blackburn are a side who can be beaten this weekend.
West Brom have won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three meetings with Rovers so the recent history between these two clubs does not suggest a lot about what this weekend’s result will be.
But, based on the performances in the last three games, which have seen the Baggies score nine goals, you would expect them to win more comfortably than Stelling is suggesting.
In other West Brom news, Albion could be invited to play for silverware at Wembley next month.
