‘Fantastic’ – Darren Moore blown away by West Brom 29y/o in draw v Fulham
Darren Moore was full of praise for West Brom centre-back Ahmed Hegazi as the Baggies drew 0-0 with Fulham at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.
Hegazi, 29, made a number of crucial interventions in the Baggies defence, with none being more impressive than his goal-line clearance in the first half.
Ex-Albion boss Moore talked through what happened at half-time and couldn’t help but rave about the Egypt international’s defensive work.
“Knockaert with a bit of creativity down the left and crosses it to the back-post,” said Moore at half-time on Sky Sports Main Event.
“Cavaleiro puts it back [across] but Ahmed Hegazi was there with fantastic defending at the far post.
“He saved a certain goal there.”
Hegazi was tremendous against Fulham.
The Egypt international barely gave Aleksandar Mitrovic a sniff throughout the entire game, which is no easy task given the Serbian’s record in the Championship this season.
Albion’s defence hasn’t been consistent since the restart and Kyle Bartley had to be dropped to make way for Hegazi ahead of kick-off.
But that seems to have been the correct call by Slaven Bilic.
In other West Brom news, Albion have been tipped to sign this Man United player on a £37,500-a-week loan deal.
