‘Opened the door’ – Sky pundit predicts monster West Brom clash v Fulham & Brentford v Preston

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes that Fulham will beat West Brom tonight and blow the race for automatic promotion wide open.

West Brom play Fulham in a monster game at the top of the Championship.

They have a three-point lead over third-placed Brentford but have a significantly worse goal difference.

And Prutton thinks that Brentford will win their game against Preston on Wednesday to move into second place.

Writing in his regular Sky Sports column, Prutton said, “West Brom’s slip at the weekend has opened the door right up for the sides below them, and Fulham may sense a little bit of blood.

“Scott Parker’s side trail the Baggies by five points, and only a win will do with three games to go. That might make it easier for them to approach the game in a way, and I have a feeling they could take advantage.”

Prutton thinks that the game will end 2-1 to Fulham, with Brentford winning 2-0.

This might not come as a surprise but we don’t go along with Prutton.

It’s a massive game, no doubt, but we think that home advantage even without fans will be enough to swing it towards the Baggies.

Even a draw wouldn’t be disastrous – it would ensure that West Brom stay in second place with just two games left whatever Brentford do.

Huddersfield and QPR are both winnable games so we won’t be panicking too much if it ends all even this evening.

However, we can’t countenance a loss.

We think the West Brom stars, and Matheus Pereira in particular, will be able to really showcase their talents in the face of a Fulham side who have to attack.

Only a win will do for Scott Parker’s side and we think that will play into our hands.

In other West Brom news, Albion could be invited to play for silverware at Wembley next month.
