‘Atrocious signing’, ‘Disgrace’ – Many West Brom fans destroy player v Fulham, want him dropped

West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to tear Charlie Austin to shreds for his performance in the 0-0 draw with Fulham on Tuesday night.

Austin, 31, failed to score for a third game in a row despite being handed a couple of glorious chances to hit the back of the net by West Brom’s attacking midfielders.

Slaven Bilic substituted the striker off in the 66th minute with Hal Robson-Kanu coming on to replace him and although the Welshman perhaps did a bit more, it was still clear that the centre-forward position is one that needs improving a lot ahead of next season.

During and after the game, West Brom fans were on Twitter discussing the striker issue at The Hawthorns.

Albion play Huddersfield on Friday night in their penultimate fixture of the season but some fans don’t want to see Austin spearheading the attack against the Terriers.

Robson-Kanu isn’t much of a replacement considering his poor form since the Championship season restarted while a return for Kenneth Zohore should, under no circumstances, be considered.

Some Baggies fans want to see Callum Robinson up top instead.

This next view is quite an extreme one.

Austin is West Brom’s top goalscorer and has netted some massive goals for the club since his arrival from Southampton last summer.

In November and December, he went on a run of scoring six times in five league appearances, with massive goals against Sheffield Wednesday, Preston, Wigan and Birmingham.

To say it’s “grossly unprofessional” that the club signed him is utterly ridiculous.

In other West Brom news, Mick McCarthy mocked Bilic in the 0-0 draw with Fulham.
