‘I am not happy’ – Bilic makes key complaint about West Brom promotion run-in

Slaven Bilic has admitted that he is “not happy” about his West Brom side having to play five matches in 13 days.

The Baggies dropped points against Fulham on Tuesday night – a result that allowed third-placed Brentford to narrow the gap on them to just one point.

Albion are next in action when they face Huddersfield Town on Friday evening.

And Bilic is not too pleased with the hectic scheduling that his side have faced in recent days.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I have to say that I am not happy that we are playing on Friday.

“The five games that close with Huddersfield on Friday, other teams are playing five games in 15 days which is awful, which is difficult.

“We have to do five games in 13 days.

“I don’t like to moan and this isn’t moaning but I don’t know when it happened before.”

On the surface, it would be easy to look at Bilic’s comments here and argue that he needs to just get on with it, and that everybody is in the same boat.

To some extent, that is right, but when Bilic is talking about his team playing the same amount of matches as their rivals in two days fewer, it’s hard to disagree with his point here.

Two days isn’t a lot, but the margins in this bizarre period of restart are so fine that even two days can make a big difference.

The end is in sight now, and you would hope that the adrenaline of being two wins away from the Premier League is enough to carry this team over the line, but we certainly aren’t being helped by some manic fixture scheduling.

In other West Brom news, Albion could be invited to play for silverware at Wembley next month.
