‘It won’t be easy’ – Exclusive: Kevin Phillips addresses West Brom promotion hopes after draw v Fulham

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips has insisted that West Brom are still in a strong position to decide their own promotion destiny this season.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, the former Baggies hitman claimed that most supporters would have been delighted to be just two wins from the Premier League at this stage in the campaign at the beginning of the season.

Albion dropped points for a second consecutive match when they drew 0-0 with Fulham on Tuesday evening.

“When you get to this stage of the season, to have destiny in your hands is a good thing”, he told West Brom News.

“If you win your last two matches, you’re not relying on anyone else, then you’re in the Premier League. If you’d have asked any West Brom supporter would they like to be in this situation come the end of the season, I think they would have snapped your hand off.

“Of course, anything can happen. It’s not going to be easy, certainly against Huddersfield who are scrapping for their lives.

“But I would say, they’re in a strong position. They should’ve probably won the game last night, they could’ve killed it off early against Blackburn, but they’re still in a strong position.”

Albion next game is against Huddersfield Town on Friday night.
