‘Really sick’, ‘Praying’ – Some West Brom fans react to latest twist in automatic promotion race
The 0-0 draw between West Brom and Fulham last night wasn’t the worst result in the world.
It wasn’t the best either but it meant that West Brom’s fate is in their own hands and two more wins would be enough to secure promotion.
That’s assuming that Brentford carried on the winning run that’s seen them notch up seven wins in a row ahead of the game against Preston on Wednesday.
It was a pretty safe assumption to make given the form Brentford are in and they showed that to devastating effect when Ollie Watkins scored after just three minutes.
They didn’t need any more and Preston, despite fashioning a few chances, bowed out without getting on the scoreboard.
It means that West Brom fans know that we’ve probably got to win both remaining games to go up.
One West Brom fan said he was “really sick” of teams gifting Brentford goals – Derby did it at the weekend when Ben Hamer let a harmless shot wriggle under his body.
We’re not sure today’s goal was a gift – it was more a brilliant finish from Watkins.
Regardless, our two remaining games – Huddersfield and QPR – are really winnable games and we’re sure that the Baggies will do it. Plenty of fans are too.
