Sky Sports journo: Championship trio plot summer raids for West Brom 27y/o – Report

A trio of Championship clubs are keen on signing West Brom goalkeeper Jonathan Bond, according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the Hawthorns this summer, and is yet to be offered a new deal by the Baggies.

The stopper signed from Reading on a free transfer in 2018, but has featured just seven times for Albion’s senior side.

But according to Thomas, there is still some uncertainty as to where he will be playing his football next season.

As well as the possibility of a new contract offer from West Brom, the reporter suggests that Swansea City, Blackburn Rovers, and Bristol City are all considering making a move for the keeper.

In truth, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Bond left.

That’s no slight on the lad, who has been a solid deputy option between the sticks ever since he arrived in the midlands.

But at the same time, he hasn’t made any real impact for Albion, and could find himself tossed even further down the pecking order this summer.

Alex Palmer recently signed a new deal with the club, and the youngster has been in impressive form for League Two outfit Plymouth Argyle this season.

In fact, as previously discussed by West Brom News, Palmer’s stats are more impressive than Bond’s, and Argyle manager Ryan Lowe has called the young stopper “different class” for his contribution in the lower leagues this season.

It wouldn’t be too much of surprise to see Palmer given a greater role with the first team in the coming months, and if that is the case, you could probably argue pretty effectively that we would manage just fine without Bond.

In other West Brom news, Albion have been tipped to sign this Man United player on a £37,500-a-week loan deal.
