Sky Sports pundit issues verdict on must-win West Brom clash v Huddersfield – ‘It looks easy’

Stephen Warnock has warned West Brom that they will face a tough task when they come up against Huddersfield Town on Friday evening.

Albion go into that match knowing that they must win their two remaining matches to ensure that they wrap up a promotion to the Premier League next season.

And while the Sky Sports pundit has suggested that he would expect the Baggies to beat the Terriers, he has also hinted that it could be a slightly more complicated challenge than it initially appears – especially with third-placed Brentford applying the pressure.

Speaking on EFL on Quest (Wednesday July 15th, 10.30pm), he said: “Sometimes, when you can feel the likes of Brentford winning game in, game out, and you can feel them chasing you down, confidence drops.

“You feel like they’re going to win every game.

“It looks easy [playing Huddersfield], but they have got a good defensive record.

“They’re tough to play against.”

Huddersfield do indeed have a good defensive record, but it’s not exactly exemplary.

The Terriers have conceded 65 goals this season, which is the second lowest in the bottom six, but is also the seventh highest tally in the Championship overall.

To be fair to Warnock, however, if we take a closer look at Huddersfield’s recent form in particular, we do see that they’ve kept four clean sheets in their last five matches.

And with their Championship status still very much up in the air, you would imagine that they will look to sit in and keep things as tight as possible against a Baggies side who are the second highest scorers in the division.

That could prove to be a concern for Albion, especially considering the fact that they have drawn a blank in three of their Championship restart matches so far.

In other West Brom news, Albion have been tipped to sign this Man United player on a £37,500-a-week loan deal.
