View: West Brom handed major boost as QPR star bound to miss Weds night showdown
West Brom know that a win against QPR at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night will seal their automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Albion fans were down in the dumps on Friday night and Saturday morning after seeing Slaven Bilic’s side lose to Huddersfield and hand the advantage to seal second-place to Brentford.
However the Bees’ shock defeat to Stoke on Saturday means that if the Baggies win against QPR in their final match of the Championship season, they will be a Premier League club once again.
And it seems that QPR will be without one of their key players for that game, handing a major boost to West Brom.
According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Bright Osayi-Samuel is jetting out to Belgian to hold talks with Club Brugge ahead of a summer switch.
Osayi-Samuel has been one of the stars of the season at Loftus Road and that has led to West Brom holding a reported interest in him [Express & Star].
Although it seems that Luke Dowling will miss out on his transfer target, the most important thing right now is that he seems destined to miss the game against the Baggies on Wednesday with his future in West London looking as though it’s over.
Osayi-Samuel has scored six goals and supplied nine assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this season.
According to stats by WhoScored, no one in the QPR squad has averaged more dribbles per Championship game than the Nigerian this season [2.9] and only two players in the whole league have averaged more [Ovie Ejaria, 3.1 and Said Benrahma, 3.0].
If QPR are missing that kind of forward-thinking player on Wednesday – which seems very likely if Nixon is correct – then the Baggies defence can breathe a sigh of relief after such a shoddy outing at Huddersfield on Friday.
In other West Brom news, Adrian Durham has slammed this Albion player after a clip of him went viral on Twitter.
