Exclusive: West Brom loan star tipped to seek permanent deal upon promotion by ex-Baggie
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips is sure that loan star Grady Diangana would want to stay at West Brom if the Baggies win promotion to the Premier League.
Diangana, 22, has been a joy to watch at The Hawthorns this season with him scoring seven goals and supplying six assists in 29 Championship appearances.
Slaven Bilic’s side are just one win away from securing automatic promotion and if that happens, Phillips can see Diangana wanting to extend his stay in the Black Country.
“In the Premier League, would I see him playing regularly for West Ham? Probably not,” Phillips told West Brom News.
“I’m sure that if they go up, West Brom would like to secure his services and I’m pretty sure the player would like to stay at West Brom and play for them in the Premier League.
“I’d like to see him in a Baggies shirt next season if they’re in the Premier League.”
We would all love to see Diangana turn his loan stay at The Hawthorns into a permanent one.
He has shown this season that he is more than ready to make the step up to the Premier League and the wealth of wide options that West Ham have means that he may try to move away from the London Stadium in order to continue with his development.
Bilic’s squad is the perfect place for Diangana to do that but Albion fans probably shouldn’t put too much hope in a deal being agreed as West Ham are bound to demand a hefty fee for the England Under-21 international.
In other West Brom news, Hal Robson-Kanu has sent a message to this Leeds player after Albion’s loss handed the Whites promotion.
