Harvey Barnes reacts instantly on Twitter as West Brom win PL promotion
Harvey Barnes has congratulated his former club West Brom after they sealed promotion back to the Premier League on Wednesday.
Although Albion were held to a 2-2 draw by QPR at The Hawthorns, Brentford’s defeat to Barnsley meant that Slaven Bilic’s men secured second place in the Championship by the skin of their teeth on the last day of the season.
Barnes spent just a matter of months on loan at The Hawthorns last season but clearly still has an affinity for his former club, welcoming them back to the Premier League on social media.
“Congratulations, West Brom. Back where the club belongs,” Barnes wrote on his personal Twitter account.
What a night.
West Brom went behind to QPR and looked as though they were going to drop out of the top-two on the last day of the season before Barnsley decided to show off their fighting spirit by beating Brentford.
Let’s face it, we haven’t been great in the last few games and Brentford have really bottled the chance to take promotion off us but the season is a course of 46 games – not three or four.
The Championship table does not lie and after 46 games, West Brom were the second-best team and deserve a place back in the Premier League alongside Leeds United, who are deserving champions.
It is time for Albion fans to enjoy the promotion party and the fact we do not have to take any part in the play-offs for a second year running.
After what we went through on Wednesday, there’s no way our hearts could take that.
