‘I am telling them’ – Bilic tells West Brom side how to play against QPR in crunch clash
Slaven Bilic has told his West Brom squad how to play without pressure in their crucial clash with Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday.
The Croatian believes that his squad must be brave and play on the front foot when they welcome the Londoners to the Hawthorns.
West Brom are currently one-point ahead of Brentford, and if they lose, either the Bees or Fulham could leapfrog them into the top-two spots.
Bilic has admitted that his squad are perfect at doing just that and that he has backed them to go and finish the job off against QPR.
“You can’t tell them not to feel pressure – of course, they feel pressure,” he told the Express and Star.
“But I am telling them what is the best way for them to feel less pressure. That is by being front footed, by being brave and by doing what got us in this situation – playing football.
“We are damn good at that. We should be proud of what we have done so far – the whole West Bromwich Albion thing. Now is the time to finish it off.”
Pressure can be a strange thing, especially in the Championship. After the Baggies had lost at Huddersfield, every single person involved started to prepare for the play-offs.
Brentford had nearly won 10-in-a-row, so them losing at struggling Stoke was a timely reminder that anything can happen in the Championship.
West Brom go into Wednesday’s game in the driving seat, but they must use the Bees’ latest demise as the perfect example not to get ahead of themselves and make sure the job is completed.
