Steve Madeley details drastic measures West Brom players have taken ahead of QPR clash

West Brom hit rock bottom on Friday evening after losing 2-1 against Huddersfield and handing the momentum for the top-two to Brentford.

The Bees crumbled though at Stoke, losing 1-0 and handing the baton straight back to the Baggies with the Premier League in touching distance.

Slaven Bilic knows that his side only have to beat Brentford and Fulham’s results to seal promotion, but will want all three points at the Hawthorns.

All eyes will be on the Albion on Wednesday, and how they react to the disappointment of their previous defeat at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley shared how certain players reacted, claiming that a large part of the squad cut off most of their contact with the outside world.

“In some cases, the communications shutdown went further,” he wrote.

“Several players shut off WhatsApp alerts and stopped taking calls. One agent said his client had decided to ‘cut off contact with the outside world’ until after the QPR game.”

Seeing the dejection on the faces of each player after the Huddersfield defeat was heartbreaking, but we can only imagine that the delight was the exact same after Brentford had lost on Saturday.

It will mean nothing should the Baggies not take advantage of that against Queens Park Rangers, and this approach clearly shows the determination the squad has.

Social media and similar outlets can be very toxic in the modern-age, and West Brom players have clearly set their sights on the final game and not what other people are thinking.
