‘Fairytale ending’ – Aaron Ramsdale blown away by ‘Unsung hero’ as WBA seal promotion

Bournemouth keeper and West Brom fan Aaron Ramsdale has singled out Chris Brunt for praise as the Baggies finally sealed promotion to the Premier League.

The Albion earned promotion despite not winning any of their final four games in the Championship, not that they will care.

It was Brunt’s final involvement for the club, as he will leave the Hawthorns after spending over 13 years in the Midlands.

Ramsdale shared his instant reaction to promotion on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday evening, claiming it was the “fairytale ending” for Brunt.

“Fairytale ending for Chris Brunt,” he said. “Unsung hero.”

It certainly was the fairytale ending, with Brunt finishing his West Brom career with over 400 appearances and now THREE promotions to the Premier League.

Brunt definitely deserved to finish his Baggies career in this manner, with the delight on his face clear to see in the celebrations at the Hawthorns.

The 35-year-old will have been a key figure in matches and around the training ground in the past month, with it clear that the pressure had got to his squad.

Without unlikely help from Stoke and Barnsley, the Baggies will have been preparing for the play-offs and Brunt will have been driving his younger teammates through a clear tough patch.

After not featuring since the defeat against Stoke in December, Brunt made cameo appearances in the games with Hull and QPR – Slaven Bilic clearly wanting stability.

This was the perfect way to send off Brunt, and he will be desperate for his side to succeed in the Premier League.
