‘He was gone’ – Sky Sports pundit noticed emotional reaction of WBA ace after promotion

Keith Andrews has claimed that West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore was all over the place after sealing promotion to the Premier League.

The Baggies have reached the top-flight after their 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers was enough to finish second.

West Brom didn’t win any of their last four Championship games, but Brentford crumbled when the pressure was at boiling point.

The Sky pundit praised captain Livermore for his role in the promotion but admitted that he looked fully drained at the full-time whistle.

“I watched Jake Livermore’s interview after the game,” he told Sky Sports’ EFL podcast.

“He was gone. Emotionally, he was just all over the place. It was a real struggle to get words out and to try and comprehend the enormity of what they had just achieved.”

Andrews went on to praise Slaven Bilic for the job he had done at the Hawthorns and for sealing promotion to the Premier League.

The pundit admitted that he was very different to Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa, but they still deserved immense praise for their achievement.

Livermore was fantastic throughout the season and stood up at critical moments for his teammates when they needed it the most.

The 30-year-old featured in all but one game in the Championship, captaining his side across the finish line on Wednesday evening.

Defensively, he was a rock alongside Romaine Sawyers, with only Nathan Ferguson completing more tackles per game according to WhoScored.

His experience could be vital in the Premier League next season, and we do expect him to play a big role under Bilic at the Hawthorns.
