Many West Brom fans say same thing about Johnstone after official tweet, Sawyers also replies
West Brom keeper Sam Johnstone has always split opinion between fans at the Hawthorns in the past couple of seasons.
The former Manchester United stopper has played superbly at times this season, but will also be remembered for some of his mistakes throughout the campaign.
The Baggies stopper was a vital cog in the Albion’s push for the Premier League though, finishing two points ahead of Brentford in the end.
Slaven Bilic has stuck by the keeper in the Midlands, with Johnstone completing every minute of the campaign for the second season in-a-row.
West Brom managed to keep 14 clean sheets in the Championship this season, with Johnstone not conceding in 30% of the 46 games.
Five clubs including Leeds, Brentford, Fulham, Millwall and Wigan only managed better records throughout the season.
West Brom posted a tweet in celebrations of Johnstone’s achievements in the past two seasons, completing every minute in back-to-back campaigns on Saturday.
Romaine Sawyers was one of the Baggies’ players to react to the tweet, claiming that his keeper has been a “match-winner”.
With promotion secured to the Premier League, there appears to be a different, more positive atmosphere around the Hawthorns.
We mentioned how opinion has been split around the stopper, but many fans were saying the same thing in reactions to the tweet – Johnstone has been brilliant.
Many have agreed with Sawyers’ reaction, claiming that the 27-year-old eventually deserves his chance in the Premier League.
