Chris Brunt picks out favourite promotion with West Brom after three jumps into Premier League
Chris Brunt has claimed that his first promotion to the Premier League with West Brom was his favourite at the Hawthorns.
The Northern-Ireland international waved goodbye to the Baggies on Wednesday after 13 years and three promotions with the club.
West Brom stumbled across the finishing line but were promoted to the Premier League after the 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers.
Brunt singled out the first promotion with the club though, as that was him fulfilling his boyhood dream of playing in the English top-flight.
“I think probably the first one because I’d not played in the Premier League before and that was always what I had wanted to do when I was a kid living in Belfast,” he told the club website.
“I’d wanted to play Premier League football. Coming here and getting promotion and being given the chance to do that, that was great.
“The second one was probably the one I played the most part in. I scored a few goals and I played the majority of the games. But I think looking back on it, you probably enjoy the first one the most.”
Obviously, Brunt played a lot more minutes in the first two promotion campaigns compared to this season which would put this one behind them.
Brunt will be the first to admit though that this will have been the perfect end to his Baggies career by helping play a part in taking his side back where they belong.
The 35-year-old admitted that he loved being on the pitch against Queens Park Rangers as he felt like he was needed, something that will stay in his memory forever.
