‘I respect him’ – Chris Brunt hails ‘great job’ from ‘top’ West Brom man

Chris Brunt has heaped praise on West Brom manager Slaven Bilic for guiding the Baggies back to the Premier League.

The veteran Albion star has not signed a new deal with the club, and barely featured during his final season at The Hawthorns, being limited to just seven Championship appearances.

But despite his lack of action, the 35-year-old has still seen fit to hail Bilic for his impressive work in the midlands.

As quoted by the Express and Star, he said: “He is a top manager.

“He has not picked me all season but that speaks volumes for him that I can sit here and say he has done a great job.

“I respect him as a person.

“It would be easy for me to sit here and chuck my toys out the pram because I haven’t played a lot this season. But I have got a lot of respect for the job he has done.”

west bromThis is real class from Brunt, and speaks volumes about the sort of character he is.

A lesser player might have taken the huff at being slowly frozen out of the first team picture at a club where is a legitimate legend, but instead, he has put the interests of the team above his own ego and recognised that Bilic was only doing what was right for his side.

That’s a really commendable outlook, and now that our Premier League status for next season is assured, you would have to say that he made the correct call.

Here’s hoping Brunt can secure a move to a club where he can continue his wonderful career for a little while longer.
