‘Thank god’ – Many West Brom fans react to transfer report on 23y/o mooted target

Reported West Brom target Albien Ajeti is said to be nearing a move to Celtic, and it’s fair to say that a lot of Baggies fans are delighted.

According to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old Swiss striker is in continued talks with the Scottish champions over a potential summer move, despite interest from Slaven Bilic’s men.

Ajeti has struggled to make an impact in England since signing for the Hammers last year, and failed to register a single Premier League goal during his debut campaign.

His issues in front of goal were painfully obvious too.

Ajeti recorded an xG of just 0.12 per game in the Premier League this term, as per Wyscout, while his shot accuracy stands at 0%, having failed to have an effort on target all season.

It’s completely understandable that fans don’t want him anywhere near The Hawthorns.

Obviously, if Bilic sees something in him, we do, to some extent, have to trust in his judgement.

But on the face of it, bringing in a striker who can’t strike seems like a recipe for disaster.

Undoubtedly, some kind of reinforcement must be brought in to bolster our frontline in the coming weeks, but we’re pretty sure we can all agree with a fairly large degree of certainty that Ajeti is not the candidate to fulfil that role.
