Report: West Brom table £8.5m bid for prolific attacker who scored hat-trick in 19/20 CL

West Brom have been linked strongly with Croatian winger Mislav Orsic again, after reportedly having two bids for him rejected in January.

Sportske Novosti had reported that bids of £6.7m and £7.5m from the Baggies had been rejected by Dinamo Zagreb in the winter transfer window.

The report claimed that the Croatian side were holding out for £8.3m.

Now, Croatian outlet IndexHR has claimed that West Brom have tabled a bid of £8.5m and are waiting on an answer from the Croatian side.

Orsic scored 21 goals last season and made the headlines when he scored a hat-trick in the Champions League against Atalanta.

That was enough to see him break into the Croatia team at the age of 27.

Orsic is under contract until 2022 and, if the most recent report is correct, West Brom have seemingly decided to pay Orsic’s asking price – despite the market slumping and player values dropping following the Coronavirus outbreak.

It makes us think that the bid could be accepted, with Orsic likely to fancy a shot at the Premier League under Slaven Bilic.

There could be one hitch. Sevilla are also said to be interested in the attacker who can play on either wing or as a striker. He played up front twice in the Champions League last season.

That versatility makes him even more valuable for West Brom, who have struggled for goals from the club’s current strikers.
