View: Major West Brom striker deal could be on after selling club on brink of big new signing
West Brom are said to be readying a bid for prolific Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos – and now is the time to pounce.
That news came from Scottish paper the Daily Record who said that Lille were set to offer £17m for the hot-headed goal machine.
The Baggies were said to have had a £12m offer rejected last summer but could be ready to go back in for the striker Slaven Bilic has identified as the man to lead the Baggies in the Premier League.
And Morelos could well be ready to move after former Leeds striker Kemar Roofe was spotted holding a Rangers shirt today.
Express journalist Bruce Archer relayed that news on his Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon saying, “Looks like Kemar Roofe is a Rangers player.”
HLN had previously said a Rangers deal was imminent for the striker and it looks like this is moving ahead rapidly now.
With Roofe installed as a new striker and Jermain Defoe coming back from injury, this will free Rangers to move Morelos on and finally cash in on the player they signed for just £1m from Helsinki.
West Brom fans were torn when news of the potential move for Morelos first came through but he’s a prolific striker who should easily be good enough to make the step up to the Premier League.
Fans were concerned about his disciplinary record in Scotland, which is terrible. He’s been sent off seven times for Rangers.
However, he had never had a red before his move north of the border and we’re more interested in his goal record, which stands at 123 in 207 games.
Rangers are highly unlikely to keep both Roofe and Morelos and this is the time for Bilic to pounce on the Colombian hotshot.
In other West Brom news, Bilic wants to sign this Brentford star in the summer.
