Benfica winger sends two-word Insta message to West Brom player after contract confirmed
Benfica winger Chris Willock has taken to Instagram to congratulate West Brom youngster Rico Richards on his new deal with the club.
The 16-year-old put pen to paper on his first professional contract at the Hawthorns on Tuesday after impressing during a number of opportunities to train with the first team.
And the news drew praise from a number of Richards’ peers including, most notably, Willock.
Responding to an Instagram post from Richards in which he wrote: “Delighted to sign my first professional contract with West Brom. The hard work continues”, Willock replied: “Congrats baller”.
A number of Richards’ peers at The Hawthorns also saw fit to congratulate him on securing a deal with the club.
Promising trio Rekeem Harper, Jay Soule, and Rayhaan Tulloch all took to social media to express their delight at the prodigious forward penning a new deal.
Getting Richards to sign a new deal is a fantastic piece of business for Albion.
Having lost the likes of Louie Barry and Morgan Rodgers in recent times, the fear will have been that another bright young thing was about to slip through the Baggies’ fingers.
And that will have only been made worse by suggestions that both Manchester United and Aston Villa were keen on the forward.
Full credit to Albion though, they have got their man tied down to a deal, and now it’s a case of ensuring that he is given the the right kind of patience and opportunity to continue his progression towards regular first team football.
It may not be for a little while yet, granted, but this is a really positive start.
