West Brom set to bid £7.2m for international attacker – report

West Brom are set to table a bid worth £7.2million for Besiktas and Serbia attacker Adem Ljajic, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish news outlet claims that after winning promotion to the Premier League, Slaven Bilic is preparing to raid his former club Besiktas for two of their star players in Ljajic, 28, and centre-back Domagoj Vida.

Ljajic joined Besiktas permanently from Torino last summer after spending a season there on loan.

He has made 61 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish giants, scoring 16 goals and supplying 21 assists in the process.

Ljajic can play in pretty much every attacking position but has predominantly played as a No 10 for Besiktas, in behind the striker.

The Serbia international, who has experience of playing in Serie A, the Champions League, the Europa League and the World Cup, has played a lot on the left-wing too.

West Brom are likely to be in the hunt for a new left-winger this summer now that Callum Robinson and Grady Diangana’s loan spells have ended – although Albion would surely prefer to re-sign Diangana before exploring other options.

Kevin Phillips has recently told West Brom News that he doesn’t believe that Bilic needs a player who plays in Ljajic’s position.

Amid links with QPR’s Eberechi Eze, who plays in the No 10 role or on the left-wing, Phillips said that Albion need to spend money on other areas of the squad or re-sign their departing loan stars before going elsewhere.

We agree with that when it comes to Ljajic.

Although he had a good spell in Italy with the likes of Fiorentina, Roma and Inter Milan, there are better options out there for West Brom to sink their teeth into.

In other West Brom news, Albion want to sign this £18million-rated English striker.
