Report – West Brom plot summer raid for 23y/o Championship defender
West Brom are keen on signing Brentford left-back Rico Henry, according to the Daily Mail.
The Bees missed out on promotion to the Premier League on Tuesday night when they lost the Championship play-off final to London rivals Fulham.
And that could mean that a number of key players are set to leave the club in the coming weeks.
Attacking duo Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma have both already been touted for potential exits, with the former linked with a move to West Brom.
But it would appear that the Baggies have set their sights on 23-year-old defender Henry too.
According to the Mail, Albion are one of a number of sides who are keeping tabs on the full-back.
Leeds United, West Ham, and Brighton are also credited with an interest in the pacy talent.
Signing Henry could be a really smart move from the Baggies.
The Telegraph reported yesterday that Slaven Bilic is looking to cut some of the deadwood out of his squad this summer, and as part of that Kieran Gibbs could be headed for the exit door.
Bringing in another option at left-back therefore feels like a smart idea, and we could do an awful lot worse than Henry.
The full-back was once compared to Ashley Cole by former manager Dean Smith, and as far as plaudits go, they don’t get much better than that.
In terms of his stats, he’s made more dribbles, more interceptions, and more interceptions than Gibbs this season, as per Wyscout, and as long as the price is right and the player is willing, we believe this could be a serious coup for West Brom.
In other West Brom news, Albion are set to bid £7.2million for this international attacker.
