Exclusive: West Brom 26y/o tipped to seek Hawthorns exit, Derby County previously interested
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips has claimed that Kenneth Zohore will want to quit West Brom this summer after failing to shine in his debut season at The Hawthorns.
Albion paid £8million to sign the 26-year-old striker from Cardiff last year.
Although he was West Brom’s most expensive signing in their spell in the Championship, the Dane managed to score just three league goals in 17 appearances.
The Telegraph has reported that Slaven Bilic is hoping to sell Zohore this summer in a bid to trim down the size of his squad and it seems that he’ll put up little resistance based on Phillips’ claim.
“When I was at Derby, he was on our radar,” Phillips told West Brom News.
“He’s a big, powerful guy. I think the player himself will want to move on because he knows he won’t play next season. He’ll just want to go and play football. I’m sure of that.”
One big issue with Zohore is that West Brom paid a lot of money for him last summer and after such a poor season, it is going to be hard for the club to find suitors.
Who is going to be willing to pay £8million for the Dane? It is unlikely that any Championship club will come close to offering that.
Zohore’s still got three years left on his contract so a sale won’t be easy.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are keen to sign this Tottenham player on loan.
