Reliable journalist: West Brom talent could join teammate out on loan, League Two club keen

A number of West Brom talents have excelled in recent years after utilising the loan market.

The latest of that talented bunch was Callum Morton, who helped fire Northampton Town to promotion in League Two last season.

Josh Griffiths could be next on the production line at the Hawthorns, with the young keeper having impressed with the under-23s this season.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that Cheltenham were keen to bring in Griffiths on loan.

“Cheltenham,” he said. “Keen on young keeper Griffiths at West Brom. Loan.”

Griffiths could follow his fellow academy talent Finn Azaz to Cheltenham, something which could give the League Two club a boost in their pursuit.

There is a January clause in that deal, so the Albion could look to do a similar deal to protect the interests of their young duo, just in case it doesn’t work out.

As mentioned, Griffiths excelled in the Premier League Two with the under-23s, making six appearances and only conceding one goal. He ended the season with an impressive five clean sheets at that level.

With Alex Palmer also having a successful loan spell last season at Plymouth, that could be the perfect role model for a young stopper such as Griffiths.

Jonathan Bond is also still at the Hawthorns, so there are atleast two options ahead of Griffiths to challenge Sam Johnstone.

The 18-year-old should go out on loan, try and string together some great performances and catch the eye of Slaven Bilic.
