Report shares how much Crystal Palace will pay West Brom for Nathan Ferguson

Nathan Ferguson finally sealed his exit from West Brom recently to join Crystal Palace after months of trying.

The young defender was close to moving to Selhurst Park in January, but an injury at the time made sure that any switch was cancelled.

That didn’t affect things too much though, and the Baggies will be lining up against one of their academy products next season in the Premier League.

Despite it going through as a free transfer, West Brom are still entitled to compensation from Palace and that will go through soon.

A report from Birmingham Live has revealed that the Baggies will earn £6million for the 19-year-old who forced his way out of the midlands.

When Palace were going to sign Ferguson in January, that move was for £11million, with that one minor problem set to cost the Baggies £5million.

The fact that Ferguson was raised at West Brom for 10 years, along with his appearance total and one goal means that the fee is considerable for the defender.

If Ferguson would have moved to a club outside of England, the Baggies would have missed out on any fee – so they can count themselves lucky.

When Morgan Roberts moved to Manchester City, the Albion received £4.2million so it was always going to be higher than that.

Nothing is confirmed, but the fee will be discussed at a tribunal by the Professional Football Compensation Committee – we will sit and wait for their decision.
