Sun journo delivers verdict on West Brom stance over potential summer raid for 22y/o
Bright Osayi-Samuel is not West Brom’s first choice for a winger in the summer transfer market, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The Baggies are understood to have been keeping tabs on the QPR winger for some time now, with the 22-year-old putting in a standout campaign for the R’s this term.
The wide man had looked as if he was on the cusp of a move to Belgian side Club Brugge, but that deal has since fallen through.
But Nixon isn’t so sure that Albion will be overly desperate to get a deal done, hinting that they could have other priorities in the window.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, when asked whether there was any update on Osayi-Samuel’s chances of moving to The Hawthorns after his move to the continent collapsed, Nixon responded: “Well he can’t be first choice”.
This would seemingly suggest that the Baggies have other irons in the fire when it comes to their transfer business this summer.
Osayi-Samuel is a smart player, and one that we have looked at before here at West Brom News, but given the choice, it’s hard to imagine a single supporter who wouldn’t tell you that they’d rather make a permanent move for Grady Diangana, for instance.
West Brom will still retain an interest in signing the loanee on a permanent basis, but how willing West Ham would be to allow that to happen is a different matter entirely, with Football.London suggesting that David Moyes would rather he stayed put in the coming weeks.
Perhaps a deal for Osayi-Samuel could be something that Albion revisit if they run out of options, but right now, it feels like a swoop is becoming increasingly unlikely.
