‘More terrible news’ – Many West Brom fans in disagreement as deal reportedly hits snag

West Brom fans are in total disagreement over how much their club should pay for Filip Krovinovic this summer.

The Baggies are currently embroiled in talks with Benfica over a potential deal for the 24-year-old.

However, according to Portuguese outlet Record, Albion are looking to drive down the £9 million asking price that his parent club are asking for.

It is understood that West Brom are unwilling to pay any more than that figure, while Benfica are refusing to budge on their valuation.

It has been reported in recent weeks that the Baggies were willing to meet that £9 million asking price to get a deal over the line for the Croatian midfielder.

But now it would appear that Albion are reluctant to wrap up an agreement at that price.

With both sides standing firm, it is claimed that talks have hit a snag, with Benfica in no rush to sell either.

And supporters are at loggerheads over whether or not Krovinovic would be worth that level of investment.

While some argue that he is not worth such an outlandish fee, others have made the point that he would thrive in the Premier League, and clearly has a love for the club.

For what it’s worth, we think £9 million is an acceptable valuation, but it would certainly be an upper limit in terms what we should pay for the playmaker.

It’s not hard to imagine Krovinovic doing well in the Premier League next term.

In fact, you could even argue that some of his better performances in an Albion shirt came against top flight opposition last term.

In his FA Cup outing against Newcastle United, for instance, his total action success rate was nearly 7% higher than his average for the rest of the campaign, as per Wyscout.

The Premier League is less cut and thrust than the Championship, and that would surely suit a talent who likes to get on the ball and play.

We hope West Brom can find a way to get this deal wrapped up, but at the same time, the club do have to realise their limitations in terms of what is a fair price.
