Sky Sports journalist details two problems causing WBA ‘difficulties’ in transfer window

Rob Dorsett has claimed that West Brom are struggling in the transfer window before their return to the Premier League.

The Sky Sports journalist admitted that because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a restricted budget, there could be a lack of action at the Hawthorns.

Slaven Bilic is looking to strengthen in a number of areas, with Brighton’s Shane Duffy closing in on a move up north.

Dorsett claimed that the Baggies are finding the market difficult after a turbulent number of months around the world.

“It is thought a restricted budget, and a lack of time with such a short close-season – both caused by the coronavirus pandemic – is causing West Brom some difficulties in the transfer market,” he wrote.

Despite those struggles, it seems like they are not set to affect the Baggies in the deal for Duffy this month.

“However, they are hopeful of completing a deal for Duffy before the squad returns for pre-season training later this month,” Dorsett added.

Although the news that Duffy is closing in on a move is what we all wanted to hear, the separate update on the Baggies struggles don’t fill us with hope.

That could be one of the reasons why West Brom are missing out on Wigan’s Antonee Robinson, with Sheffield United reportedly winning the race.

Luke Dowling did admit that the budget isn’t huge this summer, but there is surely some money that Bilic can play with – afterall, this squad needs changes, and quick.
