View: Midlands journo names PL players who could be loaned, WBA would be smart to listen

West Brom are only one month away from the beginning of the Premier League season, and there has been radio silence in terms of arrivals.

Slaven Bilic wants to strengthen in the final third and in defence at the Hawthorns, with a number of exits also expected.

Luke Dowling has already admitted that the Baggies will need to be smart in the window, and won’t be spending similar amounts to which Aston Villa did last season.

So, the loan market could be a real option in the midlands and that is something that has worked effectively in the past two seasons.

Harvey Barnes, Grady Diangana, Matheus Pereira and Filip Krovinovic are just a few of the names that have succeeded in recent years.

Birmingham Live journalist Joseph Chapman has named a number of Premier League players that could be available on loan this season.

“Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi could be available on loan deals in this window, while Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe and Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster both have loan experience previously,” he wrote.

“Ryan Sessegnon of Tottenham will likely be available for a temporary departure, too.

“With Albion having to box clever in the coming weeks, sourcing recruits in a similar vein to how they’ve done so previously – and to great effect – is expected to be at least one avenue they’ll explore.”

Out of those names, Brewster and Sessegnon certainly catch the eye as they would solve two of the Baggies’ biggest problem areas.

Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi would most likely not be available, with Frank Lampard keen on utilising young stars at Stamford Bridge.

Left-back is a priority for the Baggies this summer, and West Brom would be more than smart to listen to Chapman suggesting Sessegnon as an option.
