View: Antonee Robinson comments could prove West Brom is perfect destination

West Brom could potentially be facing disappointment in their reported pursuit of Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson.

The Mirror journalist David Anderson reported on his personal Twitter account that Sheffield United appear to have won the race.

The fee is only suggested to be £2million because of Wigan’s relegation to League One, and to miss out when the fee is so small would be disastrous.

Robinson himself has commented on his future recently, and it could prove that the Hawthorns is the best destination for him in the Premier League.

“The main thing for me next season is I want to keep playing and keep doing well and performing,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“If it looks like I’m not going to start, it might not be an option unless I’m not getting the offer to start elsewhere.

“My goal next season, no matter where I am and what I’m doing, I just want to play. We’ll just see what happens.”

The Telegraph have reported that a number of players could leave the Hawthorns this summer, with Kieran Gibbs set to be sold.

That would leave only Conor Townsend at left-back, and he would be nothing more than a rotation option in the Premier League, giving Robinson the perfect chance to cement his spot at the Baggies.

Would he get that at Sheffield United? Surely not.

Enda Stevens has been superb in the Premier League this past year, and he will surely have cemented his spot under Chris Wilder, meaning that Robinson would be nothing more than a rotation player.

He wouldn’t face that struggle under Slaven Bilic, and these comments claiming that he just wants to play could prove that the Albion are the best club for the American.
