‘Please Albion’ – Many WBA fans urge club to make ‘great signing’ after report emerges
West Brom have joined the race to sign former Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser this summer, according to 90min.
The 26-year-old left the recently-relegated Cherries after letting his contract run down at the Vitality Stadium.
According to the report, Fulham and Leeds United are also interested after the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham cooled their pursuits.
Fraser was on £27,000-a-week at Bournemouth, but according to the Times, he will be demanding wages of up to £100,000-a-week after leaving the Seasiders.
That’s a huge sum of money for a player who failed to impress in the Premier League last season, and didn’t even play after the enforced break.
The lightning-quick winger only scored once and added four assists in his 28 appearances, so that is a ludicrous amount of money to be asking for at his next club.
Yes, he has proved his skill before, but you are only as good as your last season in the Premier League, and it would be a big risk for West Brom to fork out that amount of cash.
Slaven Bilic is desperate for wingers this summer after the likes of Callum Robinson and Grady Diangana returned to their parent clubs.
Even if the Baggies are low in that area, they must not be drawn into concluding deals that are potentially damaging in terms of their finances.
It has already been reported that they have a tight budget this summer at the Hawthorns, so a six-figure weekly wage would go against that.
Many West Brom fans were split over Fraser when reacting to link, with some claiming it would be a great signing, whereas others want the Baggies to look elsewhere – this could get interesting.
