Player not in first-team plans at club as West Brom hold talks over re-signing him – reports

West Brom have been handed a boost in their bid to re-sign Filip Krovinovic from Benfica, based on an update by A Bola.

According to the Portuguese news outlet, the 24-year-old midfielder is one of a number of players who are not in the plans of new Benfica manager Jorge Jesus.

Chris Willock, who spent the first half of last season on loan at The Hawthorns, is also among the players who are not in the first-team plans at Estadio da Luz.

The Express & Star has recently reported that the Baggies are in talks over re-signing Krovinovic on a loan-to-buy basis.

It is understood that the deal would be an initial loan with an obligation to sign him next summer if Albion avoid relegation.

Portuguese newspaper Record had claimed that Benfica were not interested in sending the Croatian playmaker out on loan for a second season in a row. However, the possibility of a permanent deal next summer might appeal to the Lisbon giants.

West Brom’s stance on Krovinovic is bound to be strengthened based on the fact that the 24-year-old is not on Jesus’ plans at Benfica.

It doesn’t mean that a deal will be straightforward because, as all Albion fans know, nothing is straightforward with this club.

But we do hope Krovinovic comes back to The Hawthorns and this is definitely a boost for those who share that view.

In other West Brom news, this player is set to exit The Hawthorns after 61 appearances for the club.
