West Brom player closes in on loan exit, reliable journalist details ‘chance of games’
West Brom keeper Alex Palmer will have been hoping for a chance at the Hawthorns next season after impressing out on loan.
The young stopper excelled at Plymouth and helped them secure promotion back to League One under Ryan Lowe.
Palmer was rewarded for his efforts last season, signing a new three-year deal in the midlands after impressing Slaven Bilic.
Despite that, it appears that Palmer is set for another loan move away with strong interest coming from League One.
The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported on his personal Twitter account that Lincoln are closing in on a deal to bring the keeper to the LNER Stadium.
“Lincoln,” he said. Closing in on a loan deal for young West Brom keeper Palmer.
“Chance of games.”
Sam Johnstone has completed every single minute of the past two seasons, and Bilic is in the market for new competition, something that has forced Palmer down the pecking order.
Jonathan Bond was on the bench mostly last season, and after Ali Al-Habsi left, he looks second in line at the Hawthorns.
We examined the stats of both Palmer and Bond, and it is the stopper potentially going out on loan who came out on top – that may be the wrong decision by Bilic.
As long as there is a strong chance of playing, Palmer won’t mind. After all, he did admit after signing his contract that he knew there could be another loan switch this season, something which looks like being confirmed sooner rather than later.
