Reliable journalist shares chances of WBA receiving £12m fee for Nathan Ferguson

Nathan Ferguson left West Brom weeks ago to join Crystal Palace.

The fee for the young defender is still yet to be agreed, with Ferguson allowing his contract to run out at the Hawthorns before moving on.

The Express and Star have reported that a tribunal is coming up to determine how much the Baggies will receive, and they are hopeful of bringing in the £12million fee which was agreed six months ago in January.

Reliable journalist Joseph Masi has reported the chances of the Baggies of receiving that fee, and it isn’t good news.

“Albion are due compensation for the player they have developed since he was seven – with that fee likely to be determined by a tribunal,” he wrote.

“In a bid to prevent that, the Express & Star understands Palace recently made Albion an offer for Ferguson. But that was rejected out of hand by the Baggies, who are confident they have a strong case when the tribunal takes place.

“The impact of Covid-19 on transfer fees means Albion are unlikely to get the £12million they previously negotiated.”

The £12million fee was agreed back in January before a failed medical caused that move to collapse, something which will affect Albion significantly.

Birmingham Live recently reported that it is more likely that West Brom will receive half of that, with £6million described as more-realistic.

Dara O’Shea stepped up after Ferguson left, with Darnell Furlong as a rotation option, and whatever fee they receive will be pumped back into transfers, something Mark Jenkins has confirmed.
