‘Could be decisive’ – Reliable journalist responds as club-owner denies WBA interest in 23y/o

West Brom are starting to set aside their shortlist for players to bring into the Hawthorns before the start of the Premier League season.

Birmingham Live have reported that the Baggies are interested in Peterborough attacker Siriki Dembele, a player who has been likened to Wilfried Zaha.

Darragh MacAnthony, owner of Peterborough, admitted that there were clubs interested, but that he was unaware of any potential move from the Baggies.

Reliable journalist Josh Challies has responded to MacAnthony’s claims though, reinforcing West Brom’s interest in the 23-year-old.

“Understand West Brom are very-much interested despite what Peterborough have been saying,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“The next week could be decisive in a potential move.”

So, based on these comments we could see where Dembele will be playing his football next season in the next seven days and the Premier League could be a real draw for the Baggies.

Dembele has been shortlisted as a player who could potentially fill the void left by the impressive Grady Diangana next season.

The 23-year-old registered six goals and nine assists in his 30 appearances in League One last season, although it is a big jump to the top-flight.

Sheffield United have also been registered with an interest, and the Baggies pursuit of Callum Robinson could help the Blades jump ahead in negotiations.

Either way, it is a huge risk, Dembele enjoyed a purple patch in League One, whereas Diangana tore apart the Championship every single week – time will tell.
