WBA could be set for court after growing ‘increasingly frustrated’ over dispute – Journalist
West Brom are growing “increasingly frustrated” over their financial dispute with Barcelona over the transfer of Louie Barry, according to Joseph Masi.
The reliable Express and Star journalist has claimed that the Baggies will keep fighting for the £235,000 they are owed from the Spanish giants.
Barry now plays for Midlands rivals Aston Villa, but that has not stopped West Brom from getting what they were guaranteed.
Masi reported on the ongoing case on Saturday, claiming that Albion will continue working with FIFA, and have more drastic measures in mind if that doesn’t work.
“Barca have refused multiple requests from Albion for the payment they are due for Barry,” he wrote.
“The Baggies have taken their case to world governing body FIFA having grown increasingly frustrated with the situation.
“But they believe Barcelona think they will go away and stop asking the longer they withhold payment – with the fee for Barry fairly minimal in football terms.
“Albion, though, are adamant that will keeping fighting and are determined to keep working with FIFA – or even take their case to court – if that is what it takes.”
Barcelona hit a record revenue of $959.3million (£733million) in the 18/19 season, so it seems strange that they haven’t paid a fee that isn’t even 1% of that for a player they no longer own.
Barry started the trend of younger players leaving the Hawthorns, something which has been turned around this season.
This financial dispute may have had something to do with that, but promising duo Rayhaan Tulloch and Rico Richards have both committed their future to the Albion.
Let’s hope Barcelona but more energy into paying their debts than they did in the 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich on Friday.
