View: Shortlist keeps shrinking as WBA miss out once again after Sky Sports update

West Brom are in the market for a goalkeeper this season, with Slaven Bilic keen for more competition at the Hawthorns.

Sam Johnstone has played every single minute of the past two campaigns, and the Baggies need more experience to challenge for that spot.

The Baggies have already reportedly missed out on Ivo Grbic, who has decided to join Atletico Madrid instead from NK Lokomitova [Marca].

Slaven Bilic looked to move on quickly with the Sun reporting that Joe Hart, David Marshall and Steven-Andreas Benda were all targets.

The latest update on Hart’s future will frustrate Bilic, with his shortlist shrinking from four to two in a matter of days now.

Sky Sports have reported on Monday that Hart is now undergoing a medical with Tottenham, and should seal that move sooner rather than later.

It is suggested that Spurs have made their move to meet the quota of having enough English players in their Premier League squad.

With this latest update, it appears that there is only Marshall and Benda left on the list, and we have to say that neither are very inspiring.

The Wigan stopper may have impressed in the Championship last season, but at 35-years-old it seems a strange move to make.

Benda is at the opposite end of the scale and has yet to make his breakthrough at the Liberty Stadium. One thing that does save him is that he is highly-rated in Wales.

Bringing in the German would demoralise the young keepers that Bilic already has, and he may be better off giving one of Jonathan Bond or Alex Palmer a chance after they have impressed.
