Matheus Pereira sends message to West Brom fans after signing four-year deal
It took West Brom a long time to get it over the line but Matheus Pereira is officially a West Brom player and fans are absolutely delighted.
Pereria signed a four-year deal at The Hawthorns on Monday and he’s set to be a really important player in the Premier League.
Finally getting the deal over the line was a relief for Pereira too.
He posted a tweet on Tuesday afternoon with his fist clenched in celebration.
He said, “I am really happy for finally can make this announcement: now I’m officially a baggie! Come on you, @WBA!”
Pereira – big player for the big league
Some West Brom fans are worried that the budget that Slaven Bilic is being given for the Premier League isn’t big enough.
However, Pereira sits outside of that budget and he’s a huge signing for the Premier League.
The 24-year-old was involved in 28 goals last season in just 42 Championship games and we think he can step up and take the top flight by storm.
The fans complaining about the budget need to see Pereira as an elite-level signing and one that West Brom should be applauded for after getting him over the line for a frankly ridiculous price of just over £8m.
With some of the prices being bandied about this summer, he’s arguably worth three times that.
As for the remaining budget, West Brom fans should remember that the Baggies are fresh back in the Premier League at a time when revenue has been taken away because of no crowds.
The future is uncertain and it’s important to be circumspect. West Brom won’t be the only big club who have less money to work with this summer than they thought they would.
